Indian filmmaker Sanjy Leela Bhansali claims ‘Heeramandi’ movie as his biggest project

Renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is gearing up for his highly anticipated OTT debut with “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” which he described as his “biggest” project yet. In a recent press conference reported by Outlook India, Bhansali expressed his excitement about venturing into the digital realm, where each episode of the series is crafted as a cinematic marvel.

Known for his grand cinematic spectacles, Bhansali highlighted the transition to digital media with “Heeramandi,” stating, “I’ve made big films. I enjoy making those big-scale films, and it comes naturally to me. But while shifting to digital, I’ve taken it up a notch. ‘Heeramandi’ is my biggest project; I wanted to make it special, and I have surprised myself with this one.”

“Heeramandi” boasts a stellar cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal. Collaborating with Netflix for the first time, Bhansali expressed his anticipation for audiences worldwide to witness the magnificence of the series.

Manisha Koirala, who previously worked with Bhansali in his debut film “Khamoshi: The Musical” in 1996, shared her excitement about reuniting with the filmmaker. Describing her experience as “humongous,” Koirala praised Bhansali’s growth as a filmmaker and artist over the years.

“We all have tried to do our best because we’re working with a master,” Koirala expressed, reflecting on the journey since their first collaboration. “It’s been a humongous journey, I’ve seen him grow as an artist, as a maestro, as a genius, he is India’s best, he is [one of] the greatest filmmakers in India.”
