 Sugar Prices Rise by Rs 4/kg in Lahore, Reaching Rs 142/kg

In Lahore, sugar prices have seen a notable increase of Rs 4 per kilogram, bringing the price to Rs 142 per kilogram.

According to the dealers association, the wholesale price of sugar stands at Rs 144 per kg, while it is being retailed at Rs 150 per kg in the local market.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has reported a 0.79 percent decrease in weekly inflation, measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the combined consumption groups during the week ending on April 18. Among the 51 items monitored, prices of 22 items increased, 11 decreased, and 18 remained stable.

It’s worth mentioning that Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, held significant meetings with representatives from the Sugar Mills Association and Ethanol Manufacturer Association separately, addressing pressing concerns affecting their industries. These meetings aimed to facilitate dialogue and explore feasible solutions to the challenges faced by these sectors. The associations expressed appreciation for involving stakeholders in decision-making processes before implementing any major decisions.
