 Tragedy Strikes Neelum: 13 Killed in Jeep Accident

In a devastating incident, a passenger jeep plunged into the Neelum River, claiming 13 lives. The accident occurred at 11 am on Wednesday, when the jeep skidded off the highway.

Four women and three children were among the deceased, with four others injured. Rescue teams swiftly responded to the incident, retrieving bodies and providing medical aid.

The bodies were shifted to a morgue for medico-legal procedures, while the injured were hospitalized. This tragic incident follows another fatal accident in Taobat, Neelum Valley, where six lives were lost.

A jeep carrying 23 passengers plunged into the river, resulting in the tragic drowning of all onboard. Eyewitnesses reported the vehicle was swept away by the river’s strong current, hindering rescue efforts.

These consecutive incidents raise concerns about road safety in the region, urging authorities to take prompt action.


Taobat is a village in Sharda Tehsil in Neelam Valley, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. It is located 200 kilometers from Muzaffarabad and 39 kilometers from Kel. It is the last station in Neelam valley. It is also the nearest location from where Neelam River enters Pakistani territory and becomes River Neelum. Taobat is accessible from Kel by unmetalled road. There is a motel of AJK Tourism and Archeology Department and a small number of hotels.
