Sindh IGP says SHOs to get Rs4.5 bln direct Budget in FY2024-25

Autonomy for SHOs and Improved Facilities

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon has announced a significant boost in budget and welfare for the Sindh Police force.

Direct Budget for SHOs

In an exclusive interview, IGP Memon revealed that Station Head Officers (SHOs) in Sindh will receive a dedicated budget of Rs4.5 billion in FY2024-25, making them autonomous in managing their stations.

Empowering SHOs

Previously, a lump sum budget was directed to senior officers for police stations, but the new plan aims to send this budget directly to the police stations. This move will enable SHOs to utilize the budget directly, facilitating expenses such as vehicle maintenance and other operational costs.

Addressing Corruption

IGP Memon acknowledged that the lack of funds often leads to corruption issues in running police stations and conducting investigations. He expressed hope that this solution will bring some improvement.

Rs5 Billion Package for Police Welfare

In addition to the budget boost, IGP Memon announced a Rs5 billion package for police welfare, which includes:

  • Medical facilities for Sindh Police employees, previously unavailable
  • Annual medical coverage of up to Rs1 million for each employee, extending to their spouses, children, and parents
  • Treatment at any hospital

Vehicle Replacement

The long-standing demand for replacing over 2,000 vehicles in the Sindh Police, some in use for over a decade, has been approved. The replacement will be carried out in phases over the next three years, prioritizing police stations with the greatest need.

Improved Facilities

IGP Memon’s announcements aim to improve the overall functioning and well-being of the Sindh Police force, recognizing their dedication and hard work in maintaining law and order in the province.
