RAWALPINDI: Following a raid at a plaza in Rawalpindi, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) discovered 13 lockers containing millions of rupees in cash.

Following a tip from the security services, the FIA carried out a search at a Murree Road shopping center that was still under construction and confiscated the currency hidden in lockers in a godowns basement.

13 lockers discovered during the search, and each one had a sizable amount of cash. The whole cash, which belonged to local businessman Sheikh Sarosh, believed to be Rs 400,440,000 million.

Before the raid, the officials ran a week-long monitoring operation. A modest iron gate leading to the parking area of the plaza’s double basement. Where construction supplies kept, caught their eye.

A hidden room was discovered when the FIA team looked closer and found a hollow area behind one of the walls. The discovery of 13 sizable iron lockers with cameras and security systems caught the attention of the authorities.

Sheikh Sarosh, the plaza’s owner, tried to explain the issue to the FIA team after showing up with legal papers. He recommended doing it himself, which sparked a contentious disagreement with the FIA team.

The FIA team stressed that the confiscated funds ought to secured. But the owner claimed that the money should stay on the property. In order to resolve the situation, the FIA called the police, who also seized the money.

Sheikh Sarosh’s attorney, Advocate Inam Farooqui, asserted that the FIA has received all of the evidence. He said that the raid did not involve any foreign currency.

According to him, Sheikh Sarosh, the owner, is a businessman who has sold lands in other cities. All of the bank drafts, agreements, and the financial trail related to the land agreement, according to him, are available. He said that the FBR contains a list of all of Sheikh Sarosh’s holdings and funds.He said that the FIA had taken the money from the plaza’s inventory. Also said that the FIA used shovels to destroy CCTV cameras that erected in the plaza. He said that neither a FIR nor any arrests had made by the FIA. He claimed that a 12-hour search operation was carried out at the plaza.
