 Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Declares Education Emergency

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced an ‘Education Emergency’ across Pakistan with the aim of enrolling approximately 26 million out-of-school children.

Addressing a gathering including federal ministers, parliamentarians, vice-chancellors, diplomats, and development partners at the National Conference on Education Emergency, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting literacy. He expressed the goal of reinstating Pakistan as one of the most educated societies globally.

Shehbaz Sharif declared, “With firm determination and support from provinces, we will tackle the challenge of enrolling 26 million out-of-school children and ensure their return to schools.”

He further stated, “I hereby declare an education emergency across Pakistan. We will replicate the successful model implemented in Punjab nationwide.”

The Prime Minister asserted his personal oversight of the program and pledged to collaborate with all chief ministers, regardless of political affiliations, to address the issue collectively. He expressed optimism that the provinces would also extend their full support to this initiative.
