Peshawar, 16 June: After going through an economic crisis for numerous years, the University of Peshawar (UoP) has later been capable of pay salaries and pensions to its personnel without borrowing a single penny.
The Vice-Chancellor(VC) of the UoP, Dr. Muhammad Idrees, said that thanks to the provincial government’s grant, the starters have become self-sufficient and even had an excess amount during the last couple of months.
“The university took loans for payment of salaries in the past. However, with the support of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, we have paid salaries to the employees as well as pensions and also met the running cost during the last two months and also have surplus amount,” he added.
He further said that their next area of focus was exploration. As the starters wanted to provide standard testing facilities to the students of M.Phil and Ph.D.
“Since the start of the year 2021, Advance Studies Research Board (ASRB) held eight sessions, which approved the research topics of many M.Phil and Ph.D. scholars. This is very important because many students were stuck in this process. Each time we get a few cases, we hold ASRB to clear those cases so that the time of students is not wasted,” he added.
The VC also said that biometric attendance machines would be installed in the varsity to ensure that teachers and other staff do their duties and remain available for students from 8 am till 4 pm.
