Pakistan’s Cricket Team Begins Tour with T20Is Against Ireland

Today marks the beginning of Pakistan’s Europe tour as the men’s cricket team faces Ireland in the first of three T20Is at Castle Avenue. The series continues on Sunday and Tuesday at the same venue before the team travels to Headingley, Leeds, for a series of four T20Is against England starting next Wednesday.

After the England series, which includes matches at Headingley, Birmingham, Cardiff, and The Oval, both teams will proceed to the T20I World Cup 2024. Pakistan’s campaign kicks off against the United States in Dallas on June 6.

This T20I series against Ireland is historic as it is the first time Ireland is hosting Pakistan for such a series. Previously, the teams met only once in the T20I World Cup 2009, where Pakistan emerged victorious by 39 runs. Kamran Akmal was awarded the player of the match for his outstanding performance, scoring 57 runs off 51 balls and executing two stumping.
