ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported one death in the last 24 hours by novel covid-19 as the number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,532,260.
The countrywide tally of fatalities has jumped to 30,384 on Tuesday.
According to the latest figures by the National Institute of Health (NIH), at least 113 persons tested positive for COVID-19 across the country in the past 24 hours.
Pakistan has conducted 9,406 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 113 persons tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio record at 1.20 percent.
The BA.5 Omicron variant of Covid-19 has entered Pakistan and many cases have reported from Karachi and Hyderabad; the Sindh Health Department announced on Sunday.
The BA.5 Omicron variant was first identified in South Africa in November. Meanwhile, the positivity rate of Covid-19 cases in Islamabad has also surged to 4.10%.

District Health Officer (DHO) Sunday said out of 1,098 samples collected during the last 24 hours, 45 people returned positive. Notably, the positivity rate of the pandemic virus in Pakistan has also jumped to 1.77% recently which the officials are linking with the spread of the new sub-variant, says a news report.
