Kim Kardashian removed a post in which she mistakenly identified a businessman as a prisoner on death row. Kim had taken to Instagram to support Ivan Cantu, a prisoner on death row whose execution is set for February 28. In an ardent post, the Kardashian family member persuaded readers to support a cause that aims to postpone Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s execution.

Kim wrote: “Sister Helen Prejean told me about Ivan Cantu’s case. And I deeply touched by it. Now is the moment to take action to save Ivan Cantu.”

She did, however, post the picture of a 60-year-old New York businessman named Ivan A. Cantu, who found out about the error through family members who saw Kim’s post. The businessman clarified that he wasn’t “getting executed” on social media.

Since then, Kim has sent the businessman an apology via her Instagram stories.

Kim wrote: “I heard about Ivan Cantu’s case from Sister Helen Prejean and really moved by it. […] The time to act to save Ivan Cantu is now!”

Ivan has said in the past that he was found guilty of using “false and untruthful information to create a fraudulent narrative” because the police “took witness statements and testimony at face value and didn’t care to investigate the claims.”
