 Interior Minister Orders NADRA to Block SIMs on Expired CNICs

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) headquarters on Wednesday and instructed the organization to block mobile SIMs that have been issued on invalid or expired Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs).

During his visit, the minister directed NADRA to establish offices across the country based on the model of police stations established in Punjab. He emphasized that these model NADRA offices would enhance service delivery and provide greater convenience to the public.

NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar welcomed Minister Mohsin Naqvi and briefed him on NADRA’s initiatives. During the meeting, the minister ordered the waiver of fees for death certificates to facilitate the public. He also stressed the importance of ensuring the security of citizens’ data and urged the establishment of model NADRA offices for faster service delivery.

Minister Naqvi highlighted the need for more facilities on mobile platforms to enhance public convenience and suggested effective use of social media to promote NADRA’s initiatives.

The minister commended the exemplary performance of NADRA under the leadership of Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar, stating that he has transformed the organization into a more public-friendly institution.

As part of a plantation campaign, Minister Naqvi planted saplings in the lawn of the NADRA headquarters. Additionally, Chairman NADRA presented NADRA’s Roadmap 2024-25 during a briefing, which included plans for modern security architecture, cyber security audits, employee cyber security awareness, and the NADRA Strategic Plan.
