IND vs ENG Live Score: England ends Day 1 at 302/7

On the first day of the fourth Test match against India, England overcame a disastrous morning session to post 302 for 7, led by Joe Root’s century on Friday.

Former England captain Root stood firm, scoring an unbeaten 106 off 226 balls to halt the charge of the home team bowlers on a day. When debutant pacer Akash Deep tormented the visitors by dismissing both the openers — Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett — in the morning. And returning figures of 3/70 to make a dream debut.

Ollie Robinson (31 not out) was beside Root at stumps.

Earlier, England struggling at 112/5 after dismissed by the 27-year-old Akash Deep. But, Root and Ben Foakes added 113 runs for the sixth wicket to pull the team out of trouble.

After a no-ball setback, Akash Deep made his Test debut in lieu of rested pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. He dismissed Ben Duckett (11), Ollie Pope (0), and Zak Crawley (42) to leave England reeling at 57 for 3.

Before being trapped in front by Ravichandran Ashwin (1/17). After Jonny Bairstow smashed a 35-ball 38 with four boundaries and a six.

India dominated the morning session, with captain Ben Stokes (3) being caught in front of the wicket by Ravindra Jadeja (1/28).

India is up 2-1 in the five-match Test series.
