IMF board to likely approve Pakistan’s next tranche on Jan 11

ISLAMABAD It was learned on Friday that the next $700 million tranche for Pakistan is expected to be approved by the IMF Executive Board. During its meeting on January 11, 2024.

In January of the following year. The Fund’s Executive Board is expected to approve Pakistan’s next installment under the $3 billion Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) program.

On the completion of the first economic review, a staff-level agreement reached between Pakistan and the IMF on November 15. Pakistan has already received $1.2 billion from the loan programme.

The second economic review talks for the last tranche of the programme i.e. $1.1 billion are expected in February 2024. – INP

WASHINGTON: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Director. Bahador Bijani, has observed a general improvement in the economic circumstances, stating that the “Pakistani authorities have delivered”.
