HED was accused of delaying teacher promotions

LAHORE: President of the Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA), Dr Tariq Kaleem, has alleged that the Higher Education Department (HED) has been delaying the promotion of college teachers without logical reasons which is causing serious unrest among the teachers’ community and also affecting the academic performance.

On Thursday, he said that the papers for assistant professor jobs are done and there are spots available. But they haven’t sent to the people who decide who gets hire for some unknown reason.

He also said that assistant and associate professors who recommended for promotion last year have not received their promotion orders yet.

He said that the person in charge has already said to finish the process of giving people a better job as soon as possible. Dr Tariq Kaleem asked the CM to pay attention to the problem and make sure his instructions are follow.

 Punjab Teachers Union (PTU), on Monday. Protesting non-payment of salaries to the teachers of Insaf Afternoon Schools for the last nine months, demanded immediate release of the same.

The leaders of PTU, including Ch Muhammad Sarfraz, Rana Liaqat Ali and others. Said in a statement that it’s unfair and cruel to not pay school teachers for nine months when inflation is rising. (read more)
