RAWALPINDI: Today marks the start of Chief of Army staff General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), COAS‘s official visit to the United States of America (USA). General Syed Asim Munir is visiting the United States for the first time as COAS.
General Syed Asim Munir is expected to meet with senior military personnel. And other US government representatives while in the country.
Tanweer Ahmed, an American-Pakistani business magnate, motivated by COAS General Asim Munir’s enthusiasm and vision for Pakistan’s IT industry to donate $9 million to the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad.
Tanweer Ahmed, a Houston resident. Gave $9 million to NUST to support scholarships that allow underprivileged students to attend top universities. According to NUST, Ahmed partnered with the university to establish an Endowment Fund for underprivileged students. Which would provide annual scholarships to close to 200 students. This is one of the biggest gifts ever made to a Pakistani university by an overseas Pakistani.
Tanweer Ahmed said: “I was excited and thrilled. When I came to know about the vision of (COAS). General Syed Asim Munir. Who is passionate about the IT Sector. I believe that with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in which the army has assumed an active role.
