ISLAMABAD (LAHORE), 2 July: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the much-awaited central contract for the men’s team, promoting fast bowler Hassan Ali and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan to category A following their stellar performances in the recent series.

The PCB released the details of the contracts after the Governing Board’s approval of the 2021-22 fiscal years’ budget. The 12-month contracts will run from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.

“It is an enhanced and performance-based central contract list 2021-22 for 20 elite male cricketers, including three emerging cricketers, in which match fee across all formats has been equalized,” the statement said.

The list was finalized by the panel that comprised Director – International Cricket, Zakir Khan, chief selector Muhammad Wasim and Director – High Performance, Nadeem Khan, who also consulted Head Coach Misbah-ul-Haq and captain Babar Azam as part of the process.

The provisional list was then shared with PCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wasim Khan, before it was approved by PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has still not finalized the central contracts for the men’s team which are going to expire today, sources told Local Media.

According to a TV report, the PCB officials are working on the contracts and discussions are underway about some players while the fitness of a few is also a matter of concern for the board.“Performance and fitness of the players would be the priority for the new contracts and the same is being tested during a training session in England,” they said.

It was expected that the players will be given the new contracts before the England team series but various reasons prevented that from happening. Sources within the PCB told local media that the contracts are under review, in final stages, and the players’ names for the contracts will be announced either this week or at the start of the next week.
