For context, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was released on November 10 last year, while Modern Warfare 2 launched in late September 2022. The previous title in the Black Ops series, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, was released on November 13, 2020.

Last month, the first teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released, showing an espionage mission to vandalize Mt Rushmore with the phrase “The Truth Lies.” The trailer was presented on an old TV, fueling rumors that the game is set during the Gulf War.
