Amir to Join Pakistan in Ireland, Likely to Miss Opener Due to Visa Delay

Mohammad Amir, the fast bowler, will join the Pakistani team in Ireland on Friday (today) for the three-match T20 international series, although he will miss the opener against the hosts.

Amir boarded the flight to Dublin scheduled at 3:30 am today. He is unlikely to be considered for selection in the first T20I but will be available for the second and third matches to be played on Sunday and Tuesday, respectively.

The late issuance of his visa caused a delay in Amir’s departure. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s efforts led to the issuance of his visa.

The PCB actively engaged with Cricket Ireland regarding Amir’s visa situation. All players, including Amir, had their visa applications processed immediately after the Kakul camp, but anxiety gripped the PCB headquarters when the pacer didn’t receive his visa.
