Openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran dominated the Ugandan bowling attack, putting up an impressive 154-run partnership. Gurbaz smashed 76 runs off 45 balls, while Zadran scored 70 runs off 46 balls, setting the foundation for Afghanistan’s total of 183-5.

Farooqi Leads Bowling Charge

Fazalhaq Farooqi spearheaded the Afghan bowling attack, claiming 5-9, the fourth-best bowling figures in T20 World Cup history. Captain Rashid Khan and Naveen-ul-Haq chipped in with two wickets each, bundling out Uganda for a mere 58 runs in 16 overs.

Uganda Struggles

Uganda’s batting line-up faltered, with only two batsmen reaching double figures. Robinson Obuya top-scored with 14 runs, while extras contributed nine runs, finishing as the third-highest scorer.

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan praised his team’s performance, saying, “It was the start we wanted… a great overall team effort.”
